Claudio Aguirre, Managing Partner and Chairman.
Claudio has had a long career in corporate finance, spanning over 24 years, before founding Altamar Capital Partners in 2004. During this time, he was head of Spain for Chase Manhattan Bank, then, during 1980–94, for Goldman Sachs Investment Banking. During 1994–2003, he was at Merrill Lynch as head of investment banking and wealth management services for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). As CEO of Merrill Lynch for EMEA, he was responsible for private equity in the region. He also led some of the privatisation and acquisition processes which took place in Spain in the 1990s, including Telefónica, Repsol and Endesa, developing an important network of professional contacts in Europe and the United States.
He holds a degree in economics and business studies from the Complutense University of Madrid, an MBA from the Madrid Business Institute and an AMP from Harvard Business School. He is also a registered representative with the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) and a series 7 and 63 representative with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) in New York. He is currently an international advisory board member of Goldman Sachs & Co.
